Polesque GirlSticking her pole in a burlesque show

Jim Thorpe Boolesque

Back on October 30th, I went to Jim Thorpe, PA again to perform at their Halloween Boolesque show.

Gatta say, I friggen love being there and performing for them! Its worth the long drive to be there and meet fantastic people and just have fun.

This time around, I now have a bigger car, for I now can accommodate my stage pole, my own stuff as well as the stuff of someone else as well! So great to be able to be in a car with the stage pole and another person. This trip I went with Miss Petra Precocious.

This show had significantly less performers than the festival in March. A lot of performers had already made previous performing plans for the Saturday before Halloween when the women of Jim Thorpe Burlesque announced this show…but not me! I was open and available. It was nice because with there being less people, we got to talk to each other a bit more, and I got to get to know a few others I didn’t really get to speak with in March. Another note, we stayed at a fantastic place, very comfortable.

It was just as cold in October as it was in March when I was last there, and the stage pole was freezing from being in the car overnight. The Saturday of the show, I set the stage pole up, and warmed up myself as well as the pole. It was pretty chilly in the opera house that afternoon, they were just turning the heat on. I ran though my routine during tech practice and then we went back across the street to where we were staying to chill out and get ready. And then we all walked back across the street to go do the show.

And we all did our final preparations for the show. Like I said before, everyone was super cool, there were no problems, no attitudes, nothing but a lot of fun and really a great experience (I have so few of those, that I need them more often).

I was one of 2 performers not in the first half of the show, so I went to watch the show from the audience. All in all, really fun to be there again, stand where I stood before to watch the show. Good to see performers I hadn’t seen before.

Well, during intermission I went backstage to then get ready for my performance. The stage pole was on stage, and I went to check on it, and it was perfect. Rarely is the pole the perfect warmth and tackiness. I think even my stage pole is happy to be there! I good think I wasn’t the first one up after intermission, for I spent needed the little extra time to warm myself up again. One time I did my routine with out properly warming up and I got a bad cramp in my calf.

As usual, I like to wipe down my own pole, and apply DryHands on it as well right after wiping down. And then it was my turn to perform. And it went by so quickly!

Really, the whole show went to smoothly and wonderful. Afterwards we all went to the Broadway Grill for dinner, a much bigger place than were we went in March, much more room for everyone to eat and sit and talk and no where near as hectic. The next morning we had a lovely breakfast, I took apart my stage pole and we walked around Jim Thorpe before heading back to Bmore.
