Yes, the debate continues to have pole dancing in the Olympics. A lot of pole dancers seem to be against it, for the Olympics will take away the “sexyness” of pole dancing. I just read some comments from pole dancers very against being in the Olympics. Personally, I think pole dancers should consider themselves as something more that merely sexy. Generally, “sexy” (note: the quotes) is not that interesting to me.
As far as the debate, Im actually for pole dancing to be in the Olympics. I don’t care about the whole sexy issue. I would love for society to see pole dancing as a sport and not something that “strippers” (note: the quotes) do. I want it to get more respect for women train and practice so hard to make the physical achievements, as gymnasts do.
Honestly, I am not just into pole dancing for the sport and fitness of it. But I am 100% aware that it is highly physical and athletic and I want it to be seen as such. Forget “sexy”. Its so hard to shoulder-mount up, get into the extended Butterfly, whip into a Jade, flip that to a Superman, Gemini, get vertical then Yogini, and Twisted grip slow dismount.
I doubt it will be accepted. So many people still think that pole dancers are strippers, its so frustrating and I don’t know how long it will take for that opinion to change.
