Pole Dancing on “Dance Your Ass Off”

I actually saw this horrible show last night. It was pretty much a train wreck, and yet I could not turn away.

While I don’t have any issues about overweight people personally, I really did not like this episode. (Not that I am a follower of DYAO, I only saw this one because there was pole dancing in it) I just found it to be rather unfair that they threw a pole at them for a week and probably expected something more than what was given. It takes so long to build up the muscle strength to be able to really accomplish anything. Plus with the extra weight the people had, it makes things much more difficult for them. Not to mention that they were on a spinning chrome pole. Chrome is rather slippery, compared to brass, and spinning poles scare me. There is some loss of control on the spinning poles.

However, I can appreciate when more people are exposed to pole dancing as a sport, I also appreciate when people truly realize just how damn difficult pole dancing is. The contestants were struggling with everything they had, and lets be honest, really they were only doing basic moves.

And my biggest problem with the episode…they kept calling it “stripper poles” and referring to “stripper moves”. Sorry, but thats the wrong phrase-ology. Just call it “pole dance”. Most of the contestants called it “pole dancing”. The host kept saying “stripper”. Some strippers can pole dance, and some pole dancers strip. But I see a difference, and I know I’m not the only one.

I was not able to find many videos of the contestants performances at this time, but here is what I came up with for now.
